Why Are MLMs So Scary?

An MLM enables everyday people to start a business within an established business for next to nothing with a built-in chance to achieve more than they'd ever be able to with a traditional non-scary job! - Gary Wolf

So, why do "they," say "Woooo steer clear of an MLM"

I'm a fan of compare and contrast.

There's no denying that corporations and most traditional businesses resemble a scary multi-level pyramid-structured business. Yes, from the CEO to bottom-tier management they're all making much of their money from the efforts of those in the levels/positions/jobs below them.

Unlike an MLM, these scary multi-level pyramid-structured corporations and businesses often don't provide real job security, and upward mobility is slow or non-existent.

It seems MLMs i.e. network marking businesses are often the only legal way for a person to build a "financial ladder" that will raise their financial ceiling and free them from the constraints of the traditional and widely hated yet accepted pyramid-scheme business/corporate jobs. With a residual income too!

MLMs are not for everyone. People who don't have an entrepreneurial mindset and above-average drive will probably not do well. People who don't enjoy working with and helping other people probably won't do well.

But people who do have an entrepreneurial mindset, above-average drive, and enjoy working with and helping other people probably will do well.

And in time people with these traits may succeed beyond their greatest hopes and certainly beyond what their efforts in scary multi-level pyramid-structured corporations and businesses could ever gain them.

MLMs offer these people a shot at better...a lot better and MLMs afford them the chance to start to build their business and build it up...even while still keeping their not scary job.

Cherry-Pickers Say MLMs Are Nothing But BAD... As If 8 to 5 Is A Bed of Roses.

I've seen a lot of Youtube videos by people, who I doubt have ever had a "real job", cherry-picking this that & the other to make the case that all MLMs are BAD!!!

Many of these would-be experts talk about the bad experiences, that either amount to nothing compared to the things that happen to people in the regular workplace every day or that have happened to people that likely had no business starting a business...MLM or any business for that matter.

I suspect, sadly, many of the true hard-luck stories came about simply because those people were simply in over their heads and they would not have done well in any business, again, MLM or otherwise.

Bashing on MLMs seems to be a cottage industry on Youtube. So much so it has me considering starting a Youtube channel talking about bad experiences people have had with regular workplace jobs.

I bet for every MLM tell of woe I could come up with a hundred for the 8 to 5 work world.

I've had bad experiences with a hospital, a church, and a department store, etc. but that doesn't mean they are all BAD, VERY BAD! Nor does it mean that I was a "perfect angel victim"...although I might have been.

Critics, myself included say that some MLMs seem like high-pressure cults.

Well, just what is a cult? A cult is a culture, a group of people, unquestioning, and unwavering in their allegiance to an idea, object or person, or combination thereof. In other words, they're hooked on "reality be damned"!

MLMs, of course, are not inherently cults but some of the most well-known certainly have tapped into a huge pool of individuals who are certainly prone to believe things not tethered to reality.

And it just so happens those individuals while remarkably gullible are not likely to be very successful as business operators. Hence the high failure rate of many that climb into an MLM.

I conclude that perfectly good MLMs can not only end up filled with people who often have no business being in a business let alone a sales business but MLMs also tend to end up with people in leadership that resemble charismatic, half out of their minds "Hypsters".

Both types of people in my opinion are toxic and can give a perfectly good MLM a bad image. I suggest you stay to edge if you find yourself in a group like that and just work your own way and believe me you can...after all you're the boss!

In conclusion.

MLMs are not for everyone but then neither are regular jobs.

MLMs can be a ticket out for the right people with the right skill set and motivation. In fact, MLMs, like any business can be very rewarding in many ways! And it can be a lot of fun too.

MLMs like any workplace are going to have shortfalls and people that you don't care for but there are plenty of MLMs out there to choose from so pick one or even two that check most if not all the boxes for you and just know there's no such thing as perfect.

Just don't get too rooted if it just isn't feeling right. Just move on to a better scene.

MLMs can and have taken ordinary people...people without college degrees and with hardly any skills or disposable income to a lifestyle way beyond what they could have ever had if they had just stayed at scary multi-level pyramid-structured corporation or business.

I'm sure some MLMs are better than others but a lot depends on what suits the person looking to start a business within a business.

Since MLMs are a "we do better when you do better" business model most will provide good training and the key to success is just duplicating what has been proven to work. This fact, in addition to the crazy low start costs, is a tremendous advantage that starting a business from scratch.

MLMs offer several advantages over starting or running a regular business.

I strongly suggest anyone considering starting a business in an MLM or otherwise evaluate themselves first to see if they are not only cut out for it but would also enjoy "working" it.

Lastly, don't try to get your friends or family in on the business end of things until you get somewhat established and only if they have a business acumen. You can sell them the products, plan or service if they want them but hold off them starting their business in the MLM until you are well-situated.
